COURTNEY CONTRERAS

Counselor Advocate

Courtney is originally from North Carolina and moved to NYC in 2012 to pursue a masters in Social Work at Columbia University. After graduation she worked as a counselor for survivors of gender-based violence at Sanctuary for Families before joining the Restore team in July 2017. Courtney’s undergraduate studies at Wheaton College led her to study culture and economics in Ecuador where she fell in love with the Spanish language and South American people. After college she continued to live for several year overseas and has since developed the skills necessary to provide counseling for both English and Spanish speaking survivors of trauma.
Courtney loves to run and bike all around Manhattan and can frequently be found in parks having a picnic, throwing a Frisbee or just enjoying the view. She currently lives in Harlem with her husband Francisco. They love to cook, dance Salsa and travel whenever they get the chance- especially to the Dominican Republic to visit extended family.
