Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Sylvia moved to the New York area in 2007. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a Communications degree, and later got her masters in Mental Health Counseling from Nyack College Alliance Graduate School of Counseling.
Sylvia went on her first vision trip to Southeast Asia back in 2013, where she felt God’s love pour out for children sold for sex. She came back from that trip and applied to the counseling program. She wanted to be equipped to do work with the oppressed.
Upon graduating in the spring of 2016, she and her husband Joseph had their son, Jude. She is a first-time-mom that is learning what it is to be a mother. In her free time, Sylvia enjoys binge watching TV shows, journaling, instagramming, and making lists. She is a lover of desserts and coffee (however learning to have more self-discipline), prayer sessions, and running. She is excited and thankful to be a part of Restore NYC for God’s mission.
