Xiao Meng grew up in Hebei, China and graduated from Lehigh University with a master’s in Counseling Psychology. She received her first master’s degree from Capital Normal University in Education. She has a passion for serving underprivileged populations. During her graduate studies at Lehigh University, Xiao provided trauma-informed practice to adults suffering from substance-use disorders and children with severe emotional challenges. Xiao has worked on various research projects including mother-infant attachment in low income households in the U.S. and the development of morality and values in the Chinese context. Prior to joining Restore as a counselor, Xiao was a teacher at Tsinghua University Primary School. She started her journey with Restore in early 2017 as a volunteer in the Economic Empowerment program. Xiao loves cooking, spending time with family and friends, listening to music, and watching documentaries.
