The idea for Restore was conceived in the spring of 2004 when Faith Huckel and two friends felt called to find practical ways to serve survivors of sex trafficking in New York City. In 2006, Restore obtained 501(c)(3) status and the Board of Directors hired Faith as Executive Director in January 2008.

Faith diligently led the building of Restore from the ground up and created a movement of awareness of the realities of the modern-day slave trade in New York City.

Faith's creativity and vision for innovative programs paved the way for the provision of long-term aftercare services for foreign-born survivors of the slave trade in New York City. In November 2010, Restore became the first organization in New York City to provide long-term housing for foreign-born survivors of sex trafficking.

Before joining Restore full-time, Faith was the Volunteer Manager at Hope for New York, a nonprofit dedicated to serving the poor and the marginalized in New York City. Prior to moving to New York, Faith worked as a social worker in her native city of Philadelphia, where she primarily assisted women and children in need. Faith also has experience working with individuals combatting HIV/AIDS, mental health concerns, homelessness and drug addiction. She received a master’s in social work from Columbia University School of Social Work and completed the General Management Leadership Program at Columbia Business School.
