Founder & Owner, Shim & Associates, P.C.

Haejin A. Shim is the founder and owner of Shim & Associates, P.C. and previously a co-founder of Frecker & Shim LLC. Both law firms were founded on the vision of cultural renewal for the legal industry. Ms. Shim is an attorney practicing civil litigation and business law and has represented a number of international and U.S.-based companies engaged in the business of e-commerce, insurance, software development, chemical and semi-conductor manufacturing, automobile, food, design, kitchenware, advertising, and franchise as well as nonprofit corporations. Ms. Shim received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Urban Studies from Barnard College, Columbia University and her Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School, where she was the Managing Editor of the Journal of Law and Policy and a public interest fellow. Ms. Shim welcomes opportunities to share her knowledge and experiences and, notably, lectured on U.S. non-profit corporation law to lawmakers and nonprofit leaders in South Korea at the invitation of the South Korean government. More recently, she spoke on the integration of faith & law at the Jubilee Conference organized by the Coalition for Christian Outreach.

In addition to practicing law and running her firm, Ms. Shim serves on the Board of Directors of Open Hands Legal Services, Inc., a nonprofit organization providing free legal services to the poor, and of the Father’s Heart Ministries, a mercy ministry helping the poor move from dependency to dignity. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of Embers International, a missions organization focused on India, and of the Center for Public Justice, a Christian think tank based in D.C.

In addition, Ms. Shim co-teaches a three-month Faith & Law Intensive course at the Center for Faith & Work and leads an annual short-term mission trip to India. Ms. Shim is a former intern and longtime supporter of International Justice Mission.
