President and CEO, Allies Against Slavery

John Nehme is the President and CEO of Allies Against Slavery, a nonprofit organization on a mission to develop community-based networks that build slave-free cities. He is also the Producer of a forthcoming feature-length documentary from Trade In Hope about American children being sold for sex in the ‘Land of the Free’ and what communities can do to stop it. John has a degree in Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University where he studied as an Ingram Scholar and he earned his MA in Political Economy from the University of Sydney, Australia, as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar. He has seven years of cross-sector community development experience as an advocate for the oppressed and marginalized including time at the Centre For Social Justice think tank in London and the international nonprofit, Blood:Water Mission. John and his wife Rachel are the proud parents of Meira Grace and have called Austin home since 2011.
